The preoperative anaesthesia appointment is medical-legal in France. This appointment takes place on a reasonable date before the surgical intervention and allows to detect a possible contraindication for one type of anaesthesia, and describe the process of anaesthesia; most times, a local and regional anaesthesia.
There is a team of anaesthetists who work in a department. The anaesthetist that you will see in your preoperative appointment will not necessarily be present at your operation. However, he/she will have your medical history and will make the same questions the day of the operation.
